It is with great sorrow and regret that the WARA informs its members of the passing of our Chairman, Philip K Metcalf.
Philip took on the role of chairman at a time of our Association's biggest challenge and when none of our fellow members would accept the task . Facing a "head quarters" range move, declining membership, an increasing change in shooting disciplines, and many other administrative and operations issues, he set about moving our Association forward. For this we are eternally grateful.
Knowing this:
The President, Deputy Chairman, Executive, Council and Members of the WARA wish to advise with deep sadness of the passing of our esteemed Chairman Philip K Metcalf who died suddenly aged 61 years at his home on Wednesday 28th December.
We wish to offer our condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his wife Carolyn and family. His absence will be deeply felt within the Wheatbelt Community where he lived and within the Rifle Movement that he has supported over many years.
His family have advised that the funeral will be a private service as was Philip’s wish.
The Metcalf family invite family and fiends to a Public Memorial Service at 10.00am Thursday (05.01.2012) at the Dowerin Town Hall.
Rest in Peace.
