Range Assessor Course

Expressions of Interest

The WARA is seeking EOI from suitably experienced members who are willing to undergo training with a view to becoming a Police Licensing Services -Firearms approved Firearm Range –Risk Assessor.  The WARA is seeking an EOI from each of the Districts to a maximum of 8 participants, one being the EO.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include conducting inspections of new and existing WARA rifle ranges, liaising with local government, land owners and Government Departments (e.g. Water, DSR, Police and DEC) to maintain safety standards, risk management, firing rights, reporting responsibilities and safe shooting activities.

Training

It is planned to conduct a two day course  on the weekend of 1st and 2nd September. Saturday will involve theory and practical sessions at Swanbourne with the following day requiring a practical range inspection by participants at a nearby rifle range. It is envisaged that Day 1 may take 4 hours, while Sunday will require about 6 hours.

 Accreditation

Course completion will require participants to submit their completed inspection documents on either the training venue or their local range, either at the conclusion of the course or within one week.
